AUBURN, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team dropped a 15-8 decision at Auburn Tuesday evening at Plainsman Park.
With the loss, Samford fell to 3-5 on the season. Auburn improved its record to 8-1 with the win.
Samford was led in the loss by
Cade Carr, going 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI.
Jackson Harris went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Trey Higgins went 2-for-4 with a double.
Hayden Perry drove in two runs, while
Jake Souders drove in one run.
Cullen Horowicz (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Samford, pitching 0.1 innings, giving up one run on one hit.

Trey Sanders and
Drew Druckenmiller also saw time on the mound for the Bulldogs.
For Auburn, Eric Snow went 3-for-6 with a double, a home run and three RBI. Chris Rembert went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI. Bub Terrell and Cooper McMurray also homered in the game for the Tigers. Parker Carlson (1-0) pitched 2.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits and striking out three batters to earn the win on the mound for Auburn.
Samford jumped on top first with two runs in the top of the first inning on a two-run single by Carr. Auburn answered with five runs in the second inning and two runs in the third to take a 7-2 lead.
The Bulldogs came back with five runs in the top of the fourth inning to knot the score at 7-7. Carr and Perry drove in two runs each in the inning and
Jackson Harris drove in one run as Samford came back to tie the game.
Auburn came back with one run in the fourth inning, four runs in the fifth inning and one run in the sixth inning to take a 13-7 lead. In the top of the seventh inning, Souders doubled to drive in
Trey Higgins to cut the lead to 13-8. Auburn scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to push the lead to 15-8.
Samford will host Kennesaw State in a four-game series this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The teams are scheduled to play a single game on Friday at 4 p.m., a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
