Box Score CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Samford women's tennis team dropped its regular-season finale, 4-3, at Chattanooga Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, Samford is now 9-13 overall and 1-6 in Southern Conference play. Chattanooga improved to 11-10 overall and 2-5 in league play.
Samford won the doubles point with wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. At No. 2 doubles,
Margaret Jaraczewski and
Hailey Troup defeated Savannah Presson and Madlena Orlova, 6-3. On the No. 3 doubles court,
Eleni Liakonis and
Meredith Taylor defeated Emma Pedretti and Margaret Manolache, 6-4.
In singles, Samford won on the No. 2 and No. 4 courts, but Chattanooga took the rest of the matches to take the 4-3 win. At No. 2 singles, Jaraczewski defeated Orlova, 6-2, 6-2. On the No. 4 singles court, Taylor earned a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Pedretti.
Next up, Samford will compete in the Southern Conference Tournament, April 17-19, in Chattanooga. Samford is the No. 7 seed in the tournament and will open play in the event by taking on the No. 2 seed ETSU on Thursday, April 17, at 2 p.m. (CT).
