ATLANTA, Ga. - The Samford track and field program finished two days of competition at the Georgia Tech Invitational this weekend. The Bulldogs went up against a strong field on the weekend and had multiple athletes reach top-10 marks in school history.
The action started yesterday afternoon when
Amiel Dabney finished third in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Her time of 13.64 was the second fastest time in the event in outdoor school history.
Antonina Tereshchenko had a strong showing in the women's pole vault as she tied for third place by clearing 3.85 meters.
Bradley Franklin continued his historic freshman season by winning the 110-meter hurdles. In the process, he set a school record in the event by running a 13.67 on his way to the victory.
Ellison Chadwick continued her strong showing in the women's long jump as she set the second-longest jump in Bulldog history while taking third place in the event.
As the event moved to day two on Saturday,
Ian Jones had a strong showing in the men's triple jump. He matched his personal-best of 15.16, which is the third best jump in school history as he finished seventh against a strong field.
Carter Ellis showed out by winning the men's pole vault by clearing 5.19 meters which is the seventh-best mark in school history.
Zephaniah Carico-McLennan won the men's 800 meter with a time of 1:47.9, just off his career best.
Arthur Chitty rounded out the weekend with a career-best jump of 2.12 meters in the men's high jump as he took second place.
After competing for four straight weekends, the Bulldogs have a week off before returning to action at the Mississippi State Invitational on May 2-3.
