Baseball To Host 10th-ranked Auburn At The Hoover Met Tuesday

GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. AUBURN (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
 – The Samford University baseball team will play host to the 10th-ranked Auburn Tigers in a neutral-site game Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
 
Samford and Auburn have met 105 previous times, with Auburn holding a 79-25-1 series lead. The teams met earlier this season in Auburn, with the Tigers earning a 15-8 win.
 
Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher Heath Clevenger on the mound in Tuesday night's game. Clevenger has a record of 1-0 with an 8.31 ERA. Auburn will start right-hander Christian Chatterton, who has a 2-1 record and a 4.58 ERA.
 
Samford enters the week with a record of 23-20 overall and 9-6 in SoCon play. Last Tuesday, Samford fell to 18th-ranked Alabama, 11-7. Over the weekend, the Bulldogs dropped two-of-three games to Western Carolina.
 
Cade Carr is currently leading Samford in hitting with a .352 (56-for-159) average with 11 doubles, seven home runs and a team-high 50 RBI. His 50 RBI rank sixth in the Southern Conference. Jeffrey Ince is hitting .331 (54-for-163) with 13 doubles, nine home runs and 28 RBI. Parker McDonald is hitting .319 (45-for-141) with 12 doubles, 11 home runs and 38 RBI. Jake Souders has a .318 (55-for-173) average with nine doubles, seven home runs and 34 RBI. Jackson Harris is hitting .316 (49-for-155) with 12 doubles, four home runs and 34 RBI.
 
Auburn enters the week with a mark of 30-14 overall and 10-11 in the SEC. Over the weekend, the Tigers took two-of-three games from Mississippi State. Last Tuesday, Auburn earned a 1-0 win over 21st-ranked Georgia Tech.
 
Auburn has been led at the plate so far this season by Chase Fralick, batting .340 (53-for-156) with 10 doubles, four home runs and 34 RBI. Ike Irish has a .338 (49-for-145) average with nine doubles, 11 home runs and 37 RBI. Cooper McMurray is hitting .333 (55-for-165) with 13 doubles, nine home runs and 40 RBI.
