SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior center fielder
Michael Gupton was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league released its weekly baseball awards Monday afternoon.
In four games last week, Gupton hit .429 (6-of-14) with four home runs and seven RBI. He posted a slugging percentage of 1.286 for the week.
His best game of the week came in game three of the sweep of UNC Greensboro where he went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI. He also had a home run and an RBI against 19
th-ranked Troy and one home run and two RBI in game one against UNCG.
Samford will wrap up its regular season with a three-game series at Mercer. The teams are scheduled to play Thursday at 5 p.m. (CT), Friday at 5 p.m. (CT) and Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT).
