BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Several former Samford baseball players are currently playing at the professional level. Below is a season update on the six Samford players who are currently on active professional rosters.
 
Starting pitcher Jacob Cravey was a sixth-round selection of the Baltimore Orioles in the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft. Cravey has appeared in 13 games, starting six so far this season for the Delmarva Shorebirds. He has a 4-3 record and a 3.75 ERA so far this season. He has 43 strikeouts and has held opposing batters to a .227 average.
 
Relief pitcher Carson Hobbs was taken in the 11^th round of the 2023 Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hobbs is currently playing for the Great Lakes Loons. He has a 2.66 ERA in 17 outings so far this season. He has a 4-1 record and has recorded 24 strikeouts.
 
Starting pitcher Samuel Strickland was selected in the 19^th round of the 2021 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves. He is currently with the Rome Emperors and has appeared in 17 games so far this season. He has a 3-2 record and a 4.15 ERA in 26.0 innings of work. He has 28 strikeouts so far this season, while allowing just three walks.
 
Infielder Garrett Howe was taken in the 11^th round of the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft by the Cleveland Guardians. He is currently with the Single A Lynchburg Hillcats. Entering this weekend, Howe is hitting .220 with five doubles, a home run and 20 RBI.
 
Starting pitcher Michael Ross was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 18^th round of the 2024 Draft. Ross currently plays for the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. He has appeared in eight games on the mound, posting a 3.41 ERA. He has recorded 33 strikeouts, while allowing just four walks.
 
Pitcher Stephen Jones was a 21^st-round selection by the Colorado Rockies in the 2019 Draft. He currently plays for the San Antonio Missions in the San Diego Padres organization. So far this season, Jones has appeared in 21 games, all in relief. He has a 3.51 ERA in 25.2 innings of work and has recorded 26 strikeouts to just six walks.
