BIRMINGHAM. Ala. – Samford freshman pitcher
Mason Blasche was named second team Freshman All-American by D1Baseball.com, the site announced Monday afternoon.
This marks the second Freshman All-America team the Hoover native has been named to, as he was tabbed by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) last month.
In his first collegiate season, Blasche appeared in 16 games on the mound, including 11 starts. He posted an impressive 10-0 record, leading the Southern Conference in wins. He also finished second in the SoCon with a 3.24 ERA.
Blasche recorded 56 strikeouts, while allowing just 13 walks in 72.1 innings of work. He held opposing hitters to a .260 batting average.
