GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT AUBURN (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will remain on the road to play at Auburn on Sunday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
Samford and Auburn have met 20 previous times, with Auburn holding a 13-3-4 series lead. The teams met last season, with the Tigers taking a 5-0 win at Samford. Samford's last win in the series came in a 2-0 win at Auburn in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, marking Samford's first NCAA Tournament win.
Samford enters Sunday night's game with a record of 0-1. The Bulldogs opened the season with a 3-2 loss at Georgia Southern Thursday evening.
In Thursday evening's game,
Sam De Luca scored Samford's first goal in the 37th minute off an assist from
Isa Moreno to tie the game at 1-1.
Clare Nicholas scored a goal off an assist from
Sarah Holland in the 77th minute to knot the score at 2-2. Georgia Southern, however, added a late goal to take the 3-2 win.
Auburn enters the game with a record of 0-1. The Tigers opened the 2025 season with a 1-0 loss to Louisville Thursday evening.
In the loss to Louisville, Erin Flurey led the Tigers with three shots, followed by Taylor Chism with two shots.
