BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University volleyball team will travel to Cookeville,Tenn. to compete in the Tennessee Tech Tournament, Friday and Saturday.

The Bulldogs will take on Wichita State at 11 a.m. and Radford at 6 p.m. on Friday, then Tennessee Tech on Saturday at 6 p.m. 

The Samford volleyball team enters this weekend with a record of 2-3 following a loss to North Alabama (0-3) earlier this week. The Bulldogs most recent win was against Winthrop in the Tennessee Invitational. 

Samford was led in the win against Winthrop by Kaleigh Meritt with 32 kills, which tied her career high, and 3 aces. Ally Cordes had 15 kills and 1 ace, while Emma Sorensen had 22 digs.

So far this season, Samford has been led by Meritt with 82 kills and 41 digs. Shea Bruntmyer has tallied 139 assists and 23 digs.

Through the first five matches of the season, Merritt is second in the Southern Conference in total kills with 86. Meritt was also recently named Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.
