BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team will host the Alabama Challenge this week, taking on South Alabama Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Auburn on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and UAB on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., all three in the Pete Hanna Center.
Samford enters the week with a record of 4-4, splitting the early season so far. In their last two matches the Bulldogs defeated Tennessee Tech, 3-2, and swept Radford, 3-0.
Following the weekend, Samford's Shea Bruntmyer was named the Southern Conference's Setter of the Week. In the wins over Tennessee Tech and Radford, Bruntmyer totaled 81 assists.
Previously, Samford's outside hitter Kaleigh Meritt was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week and currently is second in the league in kills with 120.
