Samford Soccer Travels To Wofford Friday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford soccer team will travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on the Wofford Terriers Friday at 5 p.m. (CT). The game can be seen live on ESPN+.

Samford and Wofford are meeting for the 21st time, with Samford holding a 16-0-4 series lead. Last season, Samford defeated Wofford, 4-2 at Shauna Yelton Field. Over the 20 previous meetings, Samford has outscored Wofford by a combined score of 40-6. Samford has held Wofford scoreless in 14 of the previous 20 meetings.
 
Samford enters Friday night's game with a record of 4-2-4 overall and 1-0-1 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs played host to Chattanooga last Sunday afternoon, earning a 2-0 win over the Mocs.

Samford has been led so far this season by Sam De Luca with five goals and one assist for 11 total points. Martha Bishop has netted two goals and has dished out one assist for five points. Brooklyn Miller has two goals, while Sarah Holland and Clare Nicholas have a goal and an assist each.
 
Samford goalkeeper Peyton Hull has posted a goals against average of 0.80 with 43 saves in 900 minutes in goal. She has been named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week for three-straight weeks and she is currently tied for first in the nation in shutouts with seven.

Samford head coach Todd Yelton enters his 24th season in charge of the program. He has a career record of 332-153-72, and he is Samford's all-time winningest coach with a mark of 292-121-68 in his time with the Bulldogs.
 
Wofford comes into Friday night's contest with a mark of 3-5-4 overall and 0-1-1 in league play. The Terriers are coming off a 1-1 tie with The Citadel on Sunday.

Wofford has been led so far this season by Julia Grier with three goals and two assists for eight total points. Aly Bernhard and Ines Obradovac have two goals each. Wofford goalkeeper Elizabeth Navola has a 1.01 goals against average with 51 saves in 1,064 minutes.
