TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Samford men's and women's cross country teams were back in action this morning at the FSU XC Invite. In their second event of the season, the Bulldogs finished ninth on the men's and women's side in a fields that had over 30 teams in each race.
The men's side ran their first 8k race of the season and were led by
David Brown, who finished in 14th place overall with a time of 25:09.2.
William Jordan followed closely behind, finishing in 21st while
Stephen Jones came in 49th, 33 seconds behind his teammate. The final two point scorers for the Bulldogs were freshman
Loden Kohrman, who came in 76th, and
William Murray, who came in 149th in a field of 317 runners. Brown and Jordan each set career best marks in the 8k with their runs today.
Samford's women's team took ninth place in a field of 36 teams in their 6k race. The Bulldogs were once again led by
Felicity Hamilton, who came in 14th place with a time of 21:39.1. Freshman
Gaby Boutros was the next Samford runner to cross the line in 53rd place while her sister Sophia finished behind her in 75th. Another freshman,
Abi Cobb came in 83rd in the race while,
Isabella Edwards finished the point-scoring positions in 85th. In her first race with the Dogs,
Kaiya Budwick came in 86th, while
Jess Edwards and
Bela Doss finished 105th and 288th, respectively in a field of 351 individuals.
The Bulldogs are off for a couple of weeks before returning for their next meet on Oct. 17. They have a short trip to Tuscaloosa to compete in the Crimson Classic.
