TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Samford men's and women's cross country teams were back to competition this morning as they ran in their third race of the season at the Crimson Classic. Against the strongest field they have faced this season, the Bulldogs finished 17th out of 20 teams on the men's side and 15th out of the 22 teams on the women's side.
The men's team opened the event with an 8k race. Senior
David Brown led the Bulldogs by finishing in 54th with a time of 25:17.2, while freshman
Loden Kohrman ran a strong race that saw him finish 90th and 35 seconds behind Brown.
William Jordan and
Andrew McGinnis finished closely together in 103rd and 113th, respectively, with times of 26:04 and 26:15.
William Murray and
Reese Bell were the next Dogs to cross the line, finishing in 135th and 149th in a field of 189 runners at the start of the race.Â
The Samford women's team followed with a 6k race after the men's concluded and they were once again led by
Felicity Hamilton who finished 35th with a time of 20:59.5.
Isabella Edwards and
Gaby Boutros were the next Samford runners to finish as they followed each other across the line in 101st and 102nd with times of 22:20 and 22:22.
Abi Cobb finished her race in 115th while
Bela Doss was close behind her teammate in 119th.
Sophia Boutros finished with a time of 23:28 and in 141st place in a field of 194 runners.
The next time the Bulldogs run will be on Nov. 1 at the Southern Conference Championship. The race will take place at the Tryon Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, N.C. Last season, the women's team came in second place in the conference while the men's team took fourth.
