GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. WESTERN KENTUCKY (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will return home to play host to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
The game will be Senior Day for the Bulldogs as Samford's five seniors will be honored in ceremonies prior to the game.
Samford and Western Kentucky have met four previous times, with Samford holding a 3-1 series lead. The teams last played in 2019, with Samford earning a 3-2 win in double overtime at Shauna Yelton Field.
Samford enters Sunday afternoon's game with a record of 2-2-1. The Bulldogs earned a 3-0 win at Georgia State last Thursday evening.
So far this season,
Sam De Luca leads Samford with two goals and one assist for a total of five points.
Martha Bishop and
Sarah Holland have a goal and an assist each.
Brooklyn Miller,
Clare Nicholas and
Avery Stevens have one goal apiece so far this season. Samford goalkeeper
Peyton Hull has posted a goals against average of 1.20 in 450 minutes in goal.
Western Kentucky enters Sunday's game with a mark of 3-3. The Hilltoppers fell at UAB, 1-0, Thursday evening.
Western Kentucky has been led so far this season by Georgia Liapis with four goals and one assist for a total of nine points. WKU goalkeepers Maddie Davis, Kendall Mix and Mia Riddick have split time in goal for the Hilltoppers.
