Bulldogs Return to the Pete to Host VMI

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford men's basketball team returns home to the Pete Hanna Center tomorrow night as they host VMI. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. as Samford enters the game with a 16-13 record and re 9-7 in Southern Conference play while the Keydets sit at 6-23 overall.

Samford and VMI meet for the 28th time in school history, with the Bulldogs leading the series 22-5 all-time. The Dogs defeated the Keydets 78-58 back in January when the sides met earlier in Lexington this season. The Bulldogs trailed by two at the half in the previous matchup, before doubling up VMI in the second half, led by 25 points from Dylan Faulkner.

The Bulldogs fell for the first time in the month of February in their last game at Mercer, 89-86. Faulkner scored a career-high 27 points against the Bears in 28 minutes, going 12-of-16 from the field. Jadin Booth had 26 points, going 8-of-15 from the field, and 4-for-8 from three. After holding Mercer to a season-low 49 points, the Dogs gave up 64 percent to the Bears. Booth is the best three-point shooter in the country, leading the nation in makes (105) and makes per game (3.89). Faulker and Booth are the highest-scoring duo in the SoCon, combining for 41.7 points per game. The Dogs are tied for fourth in the league with Furman and a game out of second place, behind Wofford and Mercer.

VMI enters the game with a 6-23 record on the season and is 1-15 in SoCon play. They are coming off an 81-62 defeat in their last game against Western Carolina. After starting 1-1 in SoCon play, the Keydets have dropped 14 games in a row in league play. Head coach Andrew Wilson is in his fourth season at with the school. The Keydets were picked to finish 6th in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll. VMI had Preseason Player of the Year Rickey Bradley Jr., who hasn't played all season. They are led in scoring by TJ Johnson, who scores 18.5 points per game.
