BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team will travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on Wofford this weekend in the final regular-season series for both teams. The teams are scheduled to play a single game Friday at 5 p.m. (CT), and a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT).
The Bulldogs enter the weekend with a record of 31-22 overall and 14-10 in the Southern Conference. Last weekend, Samford won two-of-three games from Appalachian State.
Senior catcher
Drew McWhorter leads the team in hitting, with a .335 average, with 13 doubles, eight home runs and 43 RBI.

Caleb Bryson and
Tripp Martin are tied for the team lead in home runs with nine each. Bryson leads the team in RBI with 50, and Quinn leads the squad in doubles with 16.
The Terriers are currently 28-25 overall and 10-13 in SoCon play. Wofford swept three games from UNCG over the weekend.
For the season, the Terriers are led by Seth Neely, batting .282 with 13 doubles, nine home runs and 30 RBI. Eric Brenk is hitting .259 with seven doubles, three home runs and 28 RBI. Alec Paradowski has a .257 average, with eight doubles, two home runs and 23 RBI. James Plaisted is hitting .256, and he leads the team in RBI with 33 so far this season.
Samford has an all-time record of 11-4 against Wofford, with all 15 previous meetings coming since Samford joined the Southern Conference prior to the 2009 season. Last season, Samford swept the three meetings at Joe Lee Griffin Field. Samford won the games by scores of 3-2, 3-2 and 8-4.
Following this weekend's series, Samford will open play in the Southern Conference Tournament on May 21 in Charleston, S.C. Samford will be either a three or four seed in the tournament, depending on the results of this weekend's series. Check www.samfordsports.com for tournament pairings on Sunday.
