BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Throughout the course of the 2015-16 season, Samford head coach Scott Padgett will help the Bulldogs' fans get to know his talented squad with a Player Highlight piece on each member of the team. Padgett started the series Tuesday with the freshman class in alphabetical order, so please read below to learn more about true freshman forward/center Dakota Quinn.

ON THE COURT
"Dakota possesses both great size and athleticism. He's 6-foot-9, he can run like a deer and can jump out of the gym. He brings that athleticism that we need at the back of the press, as well as on the defensive back line as a rim protector. He's a great finisher on the offensive end of the court, so if his man ever leaves him to go double-team, he'll be able to grab the pass and dunk it home. He has the ability to be a game-changer at the center position, because of his speed and ability to run the floor."
 
OFF THE COURT
"Growing up, his dad was a quarterback in the NFL and now he lives in Tennessee, so of course he's a huge football fan. He really liked Tennessee growing up. He likes to laugh and joke with everybody, but he's typically pretty quiet until he gets to know you. He's a really good guy and a great fit on this team."
 
Quinn and the Samford University basketball team will next be in action Friday at 7 p.m. (CST) as the Bulldogs play host to the South Alabama Jaguars for the first time Jan. 31, 1976. The contest will be held at Samford's Pete Hanna Center.
 
Friday's game will also be a "$1 High School Night". All high school students can show their school I.D. and get in for just $1. Also, starting at 6:30 p.m., the first 100 fans in attendance will receive a free Samford Athletics Tacky Christmas t-shirt. Pick yours up on the concourse on top of Section Q.
