BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team's home match vs. Rice set for Friday night was canceled late in the first half due to lightning in the Birmingham area.
 
Samford had taken a 1-0 lead on a goal by Ella Baggett off an assist by Erin Bonner in the 10^th minute of the match. In the 27^th minute, however, lightning moved into the area, and after waiting for about an hour and a half, the match was canceled.
 
Samford will host Memphis Monday evening. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start from the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium. Admission to the match is FREE!
