BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team earned its eighth-straight win in a 4-2 victory over Alabama A&M Tuesday night at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

With the win, Samford improves to 30-11. This marks the fastest any Samford team has ever reached 30 wins, besting the 2012 team that reached the mark in 46 games. This is the 12^th 30-win season in 15 seasons under head coach Casey Dunn. Alabama A&M falls to 13-31 on the season.

FROM THE BOX SCORE

Ayrton Schafer went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead Samford at the plate.
Max Pinto also went 2-for-4 for the Bulldogs.
Kaden Dreier drove in two runs, going 1-for-3 at the plate.
Jalon Long (3-1) pitched 4.0 innings, giving up one run on five hits to earn the win on the mound for Samford.
Stephen Jones picked up his 10^th save of the season, tossing the final hitless inning.
For Alabama A&M, Justin Lott and Will Hampson drove in a run each.
Yavier Febus (1-4) pitched 3.0 innings, giving up four runs on three hits to take the loss for the visiting Bulldogs.

SCORING SUMMARY

Samford jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Dreier drove in two runs and Schafer drove in one as Samford took a 3-0 lead.
Samford added a run in the second inning to make the score 4-0. Pinto scored on a sacrifice fly by Branden Fryman to give Samford a four-run lead.
Alabama A&M plated a run in the third inning and another in the fifth inning to make the final score 4-2.
