MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Samford baseball team dropped an 11-3 decision at Alabama State Wednesday evening at Wheeler-Watkins Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alabama State scored two runs in the first inning, one run in the second inning and one in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.
- The Hornets broke the game open with five runs in the sixth inning to make the score 9-0.
- Samford plated a run in the top of the seventh inning when Will David singled to drive in Ryan Crockett to cut the lead to 9-1.
- Alabama State added two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to make the score 11-1.
- Samford added two final runs in the ninth inning when Davis Schwartz singled to drive in Colton Ledbetter and Joseph Salvo to make the final score 11-3.
ON THE MOUND
- Jacob Cravey (0-1) pitched 4.0 innings, giving up four runs, just one earned, on two hits to take the loss for Samford.
- Austin King (1-1) earned the win for Alabama State, tossing 5.0 innings, allowing no runs on four hits.
