Soccer To Host Western Carolina And ETSU In Weekend Showdowns

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's soccer team will continue with conference play this weekend at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium with a Friday game against WCU at 6 p.m. and a Saturday matchup against ETSU at 1 p.m.
 
After a 2OT, 0-0 tie against the Chattanooga Mocs, the Bulldogs are looking to capture their first win of the season as they currently sit at 0-1-2. Western Carolina will enter the weekend with a record 2-3 before taking the field with Samford. ETSU has produced a record of 1-2-1 and will face Chattanooga before competing against the Bulldogs.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH
  • Taylor Yount continues to lead the Bulldogs on the attack with one goal and five shots, with four being on frame.
  • Kylie Gazza and Ella Simpson have played in all 310 minutes for the Samford. Gazza is still the only Bulldog to record an assist this season and has had two shots in three games.  
  • Morgan McAslan recorded her first shutout of the season against Chattanooga after the goalkeeper played in all 110 minutes and only faced one shot from the Mocs.
 
OPPONENT QUICK LOOKS:
  • Western Carolina is 1-1 in conference play with a 3-0 win over VMI and 2-0 loss against UNCG. Regan Ward and Maryanna Kilgore have each scored two goals for the Catamounts, while Ward leads West Carolina with nine shots on the season.
  • ETSU started out conference play with a 2-1 win over UNCG and a 1-1 tie against the Keydets. Four different have scored goals for the Buccaneers with Jocelyn Nehls leading the way with one goal, one assist, and five shots.
