BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team plated four runs in the top of the 10^th inning to capture a 5-1, 10-inning win over cross-town rival UAB Tuesday night at Regions Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

UAB struck first with a run in the bottom of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the third inning, Samford tied the score at 1-1 when Taylor Garris scored on a UAB error.
The teams remained deadlocked through the ninth inning as strong pitching and defense kept the score at 1-1 heading into extra innings.
In the top of the 10^th inning, Tyler McManus singled up the middle to drive in Carson Allison and Max Pinto for a 3-1 Samford lead.
Towns King then singled to center field to drive in McManus and Davis Schwartz to make the score 5-1.

ON THE MOUND

Carson Cupo (4-0) pitched 2.0 hitless innings of relief to earn the win on the mound for Samford.
Chase Isbell picked up his fourth save of the season, tossing the final inning without allowing a run.
Evan Ingram (0-2) took the loss for the Blazers, pitching 1.2 innings of relief, allowing four runs on three hits.

NOTABLES

Tyler McManus went 1-for-2 with two RBI to lead Samford at the plate.
Towns King went 1-for-3 with two RBI for the Bulldogs.
UAB was led by Darryl Buggs, going 1-for-3 with an RBI.

NEXT UP

Samford will host ETSU in a three-game Southern Conference series this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The teams are scheduled to play Friday at 4 p.m., and a doubleheader Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m.
