BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team swept a doubleheader from the ETSU Bucs, winning the games by scores of 7-3 and 10-2 Friday at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- ETSU plated all three of its Game 1 runs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-0 lead.
- Samford put its first run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning to cut the lead to 3-1. Will David scored on a passed ball to bring Samford to within two runs.
- The Bulldogs added a run in the fifth inning to make the score 3-2. Max Pinto scored on a sacrifice fly by Sonny DiChiara for Samford's second run of the game.
- Samford took the lead for good with five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. David singled to drive in Carson Eddy for the first run of the inning. Taylor Garris then singled to drive in Colton Ledbetter to give Samford a 4-3 lead. Pinto then hit a three-run home run to left-center field to push the Samford lead to 7-3.
ON THE MOUND
- Blake Bortak (1-1) pitched 2.0 innings of hitless relief to earn the win on the mound for Samford.
- ETSU's Seth Chavez (0-1) took the loss, pitching 0.2 innings of relief, allowing five runs on four hits.
NOTABLES
- Max Pinto drove in three runs with a home run, going 1-for-3 at the plate.
- Will David and Taylor Garris were each 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Bulldogs.
- ETSU was led by Ashton King, going 3-for-5 with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samford took an early 2-0 lead when Sonny DiChiara hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning.
- Samford added two runs in the bottom of the second inning to push its lead to 4-0. Ayrton Schafer scored on a sacrifice fly by Taylor Garris for the first run of the inning. Will David scored on an infield single by Max Pinto for a four-run Samford lead.
- ETSU puts its two runs on the board in the top of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 4-2.
- Samford plated two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 6-2. DiChiara hit a solo home run for the first run of the inning, and Brooks Carlson scored on a single by Towns King for the final run of the inning.
- Samford added four runs in the sixth inning to push its lead to 10-2. Garrett Howe drove in a run and later scored on a wild pitch. DiChiara scored when Tyler McManus reached on a fielder's choice, and King singled to drive in Ryan Crockett for the game's final run.
ON THE MOUND
- Jesse McCord (2-3) pitched 6.0 innings, giving up two runs on three hits to earn the win on the mound for Samford.
- Colby Stuart (1-1) tossed 4.2 innings, allowing six runs on six hits to take the loss for ETSU.
NOTABLES
- Sonny DiChiara went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI to lead Samford at the plate.
- Brooks Carlson also went 3-for-4 for the Bulldogs, scoring one run.
- Towns King went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Max Pinto went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
- Noah Webb drove in two runs to lead ETSU at the plate.
