AUBURN, Ala. – The Samford baseball team dropped a hard-fought contest at Auburn, 6-4, Tuesday night at Plainsman Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Auburn took an early 2-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
- Samford answered with three runs in the top of the second inning to take a 3-2 lead. Ryan Crockett hit a two-run home run to left field to tie the game. Kaden Dreier then hit a solo homer to left to give the Bulldogs the lead.
- Two home runs and an RBI ground out for Auburn in the bottom of the third inning plated four runs, giving the Tigers a 6-3 lead.
- In the top of the fifth inning, Sonny DiChiara singled up the middle to drive in Max Pinto and cut the Auburn lead to 6-4.
ON THE MOUND
- Jacob Cravey (0-2) pitched 3.0 innings, giving up six runs on six hits to take the loss for the Bulldogs.
- Logan Jones, Blake Bortak, Charles Crosby, Gene Hurst, Carson Cupo and Chase Isbell also saw time on the mound for Samford.
- Peyton Glavine (1-1) tossed 2.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits to earn the win for the Tigers.
- Cody Greenhill picked up his first save of the season, pitching the final hitless inning for Auburn.
NOTABLES
- Crockett homered and drove in two runs in a 1-for-4 performance at the plate.
- Dreier also had a home run and one RBI, going 1-for-4 for the Bulldogs.
- DiChiara also drove in a run for Samford.
- Tyler Miller, Rankin Woley and Steven Williams each homered for Auburn.
NEXT UP
Samford will host Mercer in a three-game series this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The teams are scheduled to play a single game Friday at 4 p.m., and a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
