Hogue And Jones Lead Cross-Country Teams At Live In Lou Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – McKenzie Hogue led the Samford women's cross-country team, while Jeb Jones paced the men's squad in the Live In Lou Classic, hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission, Saturday morning at the E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.

As a team, the Samford women placed 12^th out of 41 teams with 411 points. The Bulldog men's team came in 19^th out of 45 squads with 508 points.

"Overall, our program had a good morning in Louisville," Samford Cross Country Coach Chad Balyo said. "Our women ran a competitive race in a deep field that consisted of several ranked programs. It was good to see them finish 12^th. Our men need more experience over 8K and we took a step forward from two weeks ago. We're looking forward to having more time to sharpen up as we get closer to championship season."

For the women's team, Hogue placed 15^th out of 373 runners, with a time of 17:04.1 in the 5K race. Ashley Walker came in 80^th, running the course in 17:57.1, while Gabbie Hoots came in 96^th at 18:03.1.

Jones was the men's team's top finisher, coming in 19^th out of 416 runners, completing the 8K course in 24:45.5. Andrew McGinnis placed 62^nd with a time of 25:21.0.
