Bulldogs Look To Continue Hot Streak Monday Against The Citadel

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
 - The Samford men's basketball team (18-9, 8-7 SoCon), winners of seven of their last eight games, will continue its current home stand by hosting The Citadel Bulldogs (11-15, 5-10 SoCon) Monday evening at 7 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center. The game can be seen live on ESPN+ with Curt Bloom (PBP), Boyd Kaiser (Color) and Eric Biancalana (Sideline) calling the action. Live stats will also be available at www.SamfordSports.com.       
 
  • Samford and The Citadel are meeting for the 27th time, with the series tied at 13-13. The teams met earlier this season in Charleston, S.C., with The Citadel earning a 107-93 victory over Samford.   
  • Samford is coming into the game off a 55-49 win over UNC Greensboro Saturday afternoon in the Pete Hanna Center. Ques Glover led Samford with 20 points, making 4-of-4 shots from three-point range in the win. Logan Dye tallied 13 points for the Bulldogs. Jaden Campbell scored nine points, while Jermaine Marshall had seven points and 11 rebounds.
  • Samford has been led in scoring so far this season by sophomore guard Ques Glover, who ranks third in the Southern Conference with an average of 19.0 points per game. Glover ranks second in the SoCon in assists per game (4.4) and fifth in free throw percentage (.831).  Jermaine Marshall ranks third in the SoCon in rebounding, grabbing 8.0 boards per contest.
  • The Citadel enters Monday night's game off a 77-67 loss to ETSU Saturday. In the loss, Tyler Moffe led The Citadel with 20 points. Hayden Brown added 17 points and 18 rebounds.
  • The Citadel has been led so far this season by Hayden Brown, averaging 19.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Jason Roche averages 13.7 points per game for The Citadel, while Stephen Clark scores 10.1 points per contest.
  • The Citadel is averaging 74.5 points per game so far this season, while allowing 79.1 points per contest. 
  • Samford is averaging 75.6 points per game while also giving up 74.4 entering Monday night's game against The Citadel.
  • Samford has a record of 11-2 in home games so far this season. The Bulldogs have earned home court wins over Maryville, Spring Hill, Mississippi College, Alabama A&M, Kennesaw State, Western Carolina, Mercer, Chattanooga, Wofford, VMI and UNCG. The two home court losses have come to Belmont and ETSU.   
  • Samford is No. 1 in the SoCon in turnovers forced per game (14.4) and No. 2 in steals per game (7.8). The Bulldogs forced a season-high 33 turnovers versus Spring Hill.
  • Samford has made a habit of winning close games, posting a record of 6-3 in games decided by three points or less. The Bulldogs are 2-0 in overtime games this season.
  • The Bulldogs are 14-1 when leading at halftime this season and 12-4 on the year when controlling the opening tipoff.
  • Samford's bench has outscored the opposition's reserves 17 times this season, leading to a 13-4 mark in those contests.
  • Mr. Double-Double Jermaine Marshall (6-6, 225, So.) recorded his ninth double-double this season with 15 points and 10 boards in Samford's 77-74 win at ETSU on Feb. 12. The nine double-doubles rank second in the SoCon this season behind VMI's Jake Stephens with 10. The Akron transfer has been a force on the wing for the Bulldogs, averaging 12.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
  • Ques Glover (6-0, 180, So.) has made a remarkable impact on the Bulldogs so far this year, ranking No. 3 in the SoCon in scoring at 19.0 points per game while ranking second in the SoCon in assists at 4.4 per game. The Knoxville, Tenn., native, scored a career-high 30 points in Samford's game at The Citadel.
  • Jaden Campbell (6-5, 195, Soph.) has been a major spark for the Bulldogs, averaging 10.5 points per game, ranking 24th in the Southern Conference. The Brampton, Ontario native had a big game in Samford's 77-74 win at ETSU, contributing 15 points to the win.
  • Wesley Cardet, Jr. (6-6, 205, Fr.), one of the nation's most sought after recruits, continues to develop as the season progresses. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native is averaging 8.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He had 14 points in Samford's win over Mercer. Cardet was the No. 60 ranked player in the nation and No. 13 at his position by Rivals at West Oaks.
  • Jacob Tryon (6-11, 220, Sr.) has continued to be a presence down low for Samford this season. Tryon is currently tied for sixth in the Southern Conference in blocked shots per game, averaging 1.0 per contest. He had four blocked shots in the Bulldogs' 65-60 overtime win over Wofford.
  • In the last meeting between Samford and The Citadel, played on Feb. 5 in Charleston, S.C., The Citadel took a 107-93 victory over Samford. Ques Glover scored a career-high 30 points, making a career-high 13 field goals on 18 attempts in the game for Samford. He also dished out five assists in the loss. Logan Dye had 13 points for Samford, followed by Jermaine Marshall and Jaden Campbell with 12 points each.
