
Bulldogs To Host Southeastern Louisiana In Weekend Series

GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS SE. LOUISIANA (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team (7-7) will play host to Southeastern Louisiana (8-9) in a three-game series this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The teams are set to play Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games can be seen live on ESPN+.
- Samford is set to start right-handed pitcher Jacob Cravey (0-2, 4.00 ERA) on Friday, right-handed pitcher Michael Ross (1-0, 4.26 ERA) on Saturday and right-hander Jalon Long (2-1, 4.34 ERA) on Sunday.
- SELA is scheduled to pitch right-handers Will Kinzeler (2-0, 1.73 ERA) Friday, Hunter O'Toole (1-2, 4.91 ERA) Saturday and Hayden Robb (0-1, 6.46 ERA) Sunday.
- Samford and Southeastern Louisiana have played 44 previous times, with the Lions holding a 32-12 series lead. The teams last met in a three-game series in 2005, with Southeastern winning two of the three games.
- Samford enters the weekend with a mark of 7-7. The Bulldogs were swept in a three-game home series against Memphis last weekend. The Bulldogs fell in the games by scores of 12-3, 8-5 and 14-3.
- Southeastern Louisiana is currently 8-9 on the season. The Lions played a midweek game against No. 1 ranked Ole Miss, defeating the Rebels, 5-1.
- Samford has made a habit of winning close games so far this season. The Bulldogs are 4-1 in games decided by three runs or less
- Towns King currently leads Samford with a .333 batting average, three doubles, one triple, four home runs and 13 RBI. He also has an impressive .667 slugging percentage.
- Southeastern Louisiana has been led at the plate by Preston Faulkner with a .254 batting average with five doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI.
- Garrett Howe has gotten off to a hot start so far at the plate for Samford. He is batting .315 with three doubles, a triple, two home runs and 12 RBI entering this weekend.
- Entering this weekend, Samford leads the Southern Conference in fielding. The Bulldogs currently have a .980 team fielding percentage.
- After this weekend's series, Samford will play at in-state rival Jacksonville State Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.
