BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's basketball program has added Georgia Tech transfer Bubba Parham for the 2022-23 season, head coach
Bucky McMillan announced Tuesday afternoon.
Parham (G, 5-10, 165, Snellville, Ga.) spent the last three seasons at Georgia Tech, following two seasons at VMI. In his college career, he has scored 1,452 points and hit 231 career three-pointers.
As a freshman at VMI in 2017-18, Parham was named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year after averaging a team-high 14.6 points per game. That season, he ranked sixth in the SoCon in scoring, and he produced 24 double-figure scoring games.
In his sophomore season with the Keydets, Parham led the SoCon in scoring, averaging 21.4 points per game and earning second team All-SoCon honors. During the 2018-19 season, Parham became the 41
st player in VMI history to pass the 1,000-career point mark.
At Georgia Tech, Parham averaged 5.2 points per game in 2019-20, and then tallied 6.7 points per game in 2020-21. During the 2021-22 season, Parham battled injuries, playing in just two contests.
Samford is coming off an impressive turnaround season. The Bulldogs posted a record of 21-11 overall and 10-8 in Southern Conference play during the 2021-22 season after winning just six games the previous season. The overall record tied for the third most wins since moving to Division I in 1973. This was just the third time in that span that Samford has won at least 20 regular season games. The Bulldogs' 10-8 record in SoCon play marked the most wins in league play since joining the conference for the 2008-09 season, and the third-place finish in the league was the highest Samford has ever finished in the SoCon standings.
