BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford head baseball coach Tony David and pitcher
Michael Ross were honored by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association when the organization released its annual awards this week.
David was named the Head Coach of the Year by the organization, while Ross earned Pitcher of the Year honors. They will be honored, along with the High School Coaches and Players of the Year and Hall of Fame Class/DSA Recipients on Dec. 12 at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel.
During the 2024 season, Samford posted a record of 36-22 overall, and the Bulldogs finished second in the Southern Conference regular season standings with a 14-7 mark in league games. Samford went on to reach the finals of the SoCon Tournament.
Ross set a school record with 13 wins, tying for the most wins in all of NCAA Division I baseball. Ross recorded 88 strikeouts on the season, while allowing just 21 walks. He held opposing batters to a .240 batting average.
