GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT ARMY (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will go on the road for the first time in 2024, playing at Army Wednesday at 5 p.m. (CT) in West Point, N.Y.
Samford and Army will be meeting for just the second time ever in women's soccer. The lone previous meeting came on Sept. 1, 2022, with the teams playing to a 1-1 draw at Shauna Yelton Field.
The Bulldogs enter Wednesday night's game with a record of 2-1-1. Samford opened the 2024 season with an impressive 3-1 win over Tennessee Tech, then dropped a 6-0 decision to No. 15 Notre Dame, fought UAB to a 3-3 draw and earned a 4-0 win over Troy.
Samford has been led so far this season by
Fleming Dean and
Layton Glisson with two goals each.
Ella Simpson has a goal and an assist, while
Caroline Donovan,
Hanna Rae Himes,
Anna Major,
Anna Martin and
Alexa Minestrella have one goal each.
Brooklyn Miller has dished out three assists, while
Clare Nicholas has two assists and
Sarah Holland and
Brigid McElderry have one assist each.
Army enters Wednesday evening's contest with a mark of 3-1 on the young season. The Golden Knights opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Wake Forest, but then earned wins over Manhattan (3-0), UMass (3-2) and Central Connecticut (2-0).
Army has been led so far this season by Bella Conti and Bella Cooke with two goals and one assist each. Kaelon Bradley, Sabrina Rogers and Cami Silvestro have a goal and an assist each. Maddi Woodward has scored one goal as well.
