Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Samford volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (20-25, 13-25, 13-25) match against Wofford Saturday evening in Spartanburg, S.C.
With the loss, Samford fell to 4-8 in league play and 9-14 overall. Wofford improved its overall record to 13-10 and league record to 9-3 with the win.
Samford was led in the loss by
Kaleigh Meritt with seven kills and
Amelia Johnston had two service aces and 12 digs.
For Wofford, Chloe Smith had 14 kills while Laney Klika had 29 digs.
In the first set, Samford scored the first point of the match followed by a couple kills from
Ally Cordes to keep the early set within a couple points. Towards the middle of the set Wofford took a seven-point lead, 14-7 and the Bulldogs couldn't find any momentum ultimately ending the first set with Wofford winning, 25-20.
During set two, Wofford went on a 10-0 run late to deepen their lead and eventually give them the set, 25-13. Furman went on to take set three, 25-13 as well giving them the match 3-0.
Samford will return to The Pete Hanna Center on Wednesday, Nov. 5 to take on Chattanooga during homecoming week. The match is set for a 6:30 p.m. start and will be streamed on ESPN+.
