SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford freshman Gavin Isbell was named the Southern Conference Men's Golfer of the Week when the league released its weekly golf awards Wednesday afternoon.
 
Isbell led Samford in the Arkansas State Spring Invitational this week. The freshman from Trussville, Ala., finished fifth in the 60-player field with a six-under-par 210 (69-74-67).
 
Samford will next compete in the Southern Conference Championship, April 20-22 in Greensboro, Ga.
