ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Samford men's golf team has moved up to second place and sophomore
Gavin Isbell remains tied for first individually after the second round of the Peoples Championship, hosted by Western Carolina Friday.
As a team, Samford has a two-round score of five-under-par 563 (278-285) to place second in the 21-team field. Western Carolina leads the field with a score of 559 (277-282).
Isbell has a two-round score of seven-under-par 135 (66-69) to tie for first in the 123-player field. Jake Mikesell is tied for 10
th at 139 (68-71).
Tiaan Hugo is tied for 33
rd with a two-round total of 144 (72-72), while
Matthew Smith is tied for 48
th at 146 (72-74).
Blake Gayles is tied for 58
th with a score of 147 (74-73).
The tournament will conclude with the third and final round Saturday, with Samford's tee times starting at 12:50 p.m. (CT). Fans can follow the action at the following link:
