SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior second baseman
Jeffrey Ince was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league released its weekly baseball awards Monday afternoon.
In a three-game series at VMI, Ince hit .429 (6-for-14) with four home runs, two doubles and seven RBI. He posted a slugging percentage of 1.429.
Ince's best game of the week came in game three of the series. In that contest, he went 4-for-5 with three home runs, a double and five RBI. In the second game of the series, Ince went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBI.
For the season, Ince ranks second on the team with a .342 (50-for-146) average with eight home runs, 13 doubles, one triple and 27 RBI. He has 14 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games so far this season.
Next up, Samford will play host to Alabama on Tuesday, April 22. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start from Joe Lee Griffin Field.
