SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior third baseman
Parker McDonald was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league released its weekly baseball awards Monday afternoon.
McDonald hit .615 (8-for-13) with four doubles, a home run and four RBI in four games last week. He posted a slugging percentage of 1.154. In the three-game series with Presbyterian, he went 3-for-3 with a double in game one, 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in game two and 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in game three.
The Bulldogs posted a record of 3-1 in four games last week. The Bulldogs earned a midweek win at in-state rival Troy, 7-2, Tuesday evening. Samford then won two-of-three games over Presbyterian over the weekend.
Samford will travel to Carrollton, Ga., to take on West Georgia on Tuesday, Mar. 31. The game is set for a 4 p.m. (CT) start.
