SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Samford men's golf team is currently tied for second and two Samford players are tied for first individually after day one of the Carolina Cup Sunday at the Carolina Country Club (Par 72, 6,929 yards).
The teams played all of the first round and half of the second round on Sunday. Samford was in sixth place after the first round after shooting a 13-over-par 301, but the Bulldogs have shot a tournament-leading four-under-par so far in the second round to move up to a tie for second place in the nine-team field. Samford is tied with Ohio at nine over par, while North Carolina A&T is in first at eight over par.

Jack Mikesell and freshman
Wils Moore are both tied for first in the 56-player field, both at two under par. Moore is playing as an individual with his score not counting towards the team score.
Tiaan Hugo and
Mark Neeley are both tied for 25
th at five over par.
Gavin Isbell is tied for 34
th at six over par.
Matthew Smith is tied for 41
st at seven over par.
