Bulldogs To Host Bowling Green In Weekend Series

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will play host to Bowling Green in a three-game series this weekend The teams are scheduled to play Friday at 4 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m and Sunday at 11 a.m. The Friday and Sunday games can be seen live on ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all three games.
Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher Mason Blasche (0-1, 10.13 ERA) in Friday's game. The team will start right-handed pitcher Andrew Marble (1-1, 8.59 ERA) on Saturday and right-hander Joseph Lee (0-0, 5.19 ERA) in Sunday's contest.
Samford and Bowling Green are meeting for the first time ever in baseball.
Samford comes into the weekend with a record of 3-5. The Bulldogs earned a dramatic 6-5 win over North Alabama Tuesday evening at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
Samford has been led at the plate so far this season by Jake Souders, hitting .333 (9-of-27) with two home runs and four RBI. Luke Boykin leads the team in both home runs with four and in RBI with 14.
Trey Higgins, Charlie Bozeman and Eddie Marshall each have a home run as well so far this season. Cade Carr is second on the team in RBI with five so far this season.
Bowling Green enters the weekend with a record of 1-6. The Falcons dropped an 11-1 decision at Cincinnati Wednesday evening.
The Falcons are scheduled to start right-handed pitcher Jacob Turner (0-0, 7.00 ERA), right-hander Carrson Sova (0-0, 15.88 ERA) and righty Andrew Heffernan (0-1, 12.79 ERA) on the mound this weekend.
Bowling Green has been led at the plate so far this season by Sam Seidel, batting .435 with three doubles, one home run and four RBI.
