Samford Athletics marketing is looking forward to hosting the third annual Bulldog Baby Race during (presented by BMW) halftime of our men’s basketball game on January 11th. The winner will awarded a gift basket courtesy of Smiths Variety Store.
The winning baby nickname will also win a swag pack from Smith's Variety! All participants who enter the race will be eligible to win best name. Winner will be determined by a social media poll the day prior to the game.
WHAT: Bulldog Baby Race
WHO: Babies 12 months old and younger accompanied by two adult “coaches”
WHERE: Pete Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University
WHEN: January 11, 2025 at 5 p.m.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: January 9, 5 p.m.
HOW TO ENTER
• BABY RACE CONTEST IS LIMITED TO TEN (10) PARTICIPANTS. However, everyone is welcome to register!
• Once at the game, babies will be chosen by a lottery system prior to halftime.
• Baby and coaches need to be present by 4:15 p.m. to be eligible
• There is no registration fee.
• If your child is selected, a parent or guardian will need to complete the prize redemption claim and release, image release, and Assumption of Risk, Release, Indemnity and Hold Harmless, in addition to the following application. All must be completed for your baby to compete.
ELIGIBILITY
The Baby Crawl Contest will be videoed and photographed by Samford. By entering and by your presence here (including minors), you (personally and as parent/guardian of minor/s) consent to be photographed, videoed and/or otherwise recorded. Your entry constitutes your consent to such photography, filming and/or recording and to any use, in all media in perpetuity without compensation, including your appearance, voice and name for any purpose in connection with the promotion of the Baby Crawl Contest. ELIGIBILITY
- Baby contestants should not be able to yet walk on their own.
- Babies must be 12 months or younger, and it is left to the judgment of the parents or legal guardians to know if their child is still crawling or is already walking.
- Babies that stand and/or walk in the contest are disqualified.
- The contest will take place on a gym floor. It is recommended that baby wears comfortable clothes and long pants.
- Each baby selected to participate will be given a Samford onesie to wear for the competition.
- Babies will line up at the designated start line and at signal, encouraged to crawl to the finish line.
- One parent/guardian must be at the start line and one parent/guardian must be at the Finish Line.
- Only competing babies are permitted on the court
- Parents/guardians may not walk beside the child
- Babies do not have to stay in their own lanes (and rarely do)
- Cheering and enticement are highly encouraged. Parents are welcome to coax their baby towards the finish line using props, such as their favorite toy.
- Babies may “crawl, scoot, shuffle”, but not walk to reach the finish line
- Babies that stand or begin to walk during the race will be disqualified, decision is final.
- The contest will be limited to no more than ten (10) entrants. There will be one contest winner who will receive a gift basket courtesy of Smiths Variety Store.
- The baby that reaches the finish line first and adheres to the rules above, wins!
