Â
On Thursday against Furman, Cunningham notched a game-high eight assists and became the fastest player in school history to reach the 100-assist mark in a single season.
Â
CUNNINGHAM NEARS HISTORIC 1,000-POINT MARK
Cunningham, who is only a junior and will be playing in his 82nd career game Sunday, sits just 17 points shy of becoming the 27th player in school history to reach the prestigious 1,000-point plateau.
Â
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Wofford (6-10, 1-2 SoCon) enters the contest with aspirations of snapping a two-game losing streak. After opening SoCon play with a demonstrative 88-71 home win against Mercer on Dec. 31, the Terriers have suffered back-to-back losses to The Citadel, 104-103 (OT), and Chattanooga, 77-66. Ryan Sawvell led the Terriers with 14 points and six rebounds against the Mocs.
Â
In its previous game, Wofford suffered a 104-103 overtime loss against The Citadel. It was Wofford's first loss inside the Benjamin Johnson Arena since Chattanooga defeated the Terriers 77-68 on Jan. 11, 2016.
Â
Eric Garcia led all scorers in that contest with 27 points; 23 of which came in the second half. Garcia passed the 1,000-point mark with his performance that night against The Citadel. Garcia currently sits in 43rd place in Wofford history in scoring with 1,019 points. He needs six to pass Twitty Carpenter, Tyler Berg and Tom Miller for sole possession of 41st place.
Â
Wofford's free-throw percentage of 77.2 is 13th best nationally and is tops in the conference, just ahead of The Citadel. Garcia is ranked first in the SoCon with a free-throw percentage of 96.1.
Â
THE ALL-TIME SERIES - - SAMFORD vs. WOFFORD
On Sunday, the Bulldogs will square off against Wofford for the 17th time in school history. The Terriers currently own a 12-4 advantage in the all-time series, including a season sweep last year. Wofford won 69-64 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, a year ago and 78-75 in Birmingham on Feb. 6.
Â
Samford is 1-7 when facing the Terriers at home in the Pete Hanna Center with its lone win occurring Feb. 14, 2013, by a score of 40-33. The Bulldogs have not been victorious in the series since then as Wofford currently owns a six-game winning streak.

BULLDOG BITES

Â
-- In his last nine outings, Cunningham is averaging 15.0 points and 6.3 assists per contest. On Dec. 4, he scored a career-high 29 points in Samford's win over Jacksonville State.
Â
-- Since the beginning of last season, the Bulldogs have compiled an impressive 19-9 record against non-conference opponents, including a pivotal 69-58 road victory at Nebraska last year. The Bulldogs' monumental win proved to be their first against a Big Ten opponent in school history.

Â
-- Already this year, Cunningham has registered 102 assists at a break-neck pace of 6.4 assists per contest.
