SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior outside hitter
Kaleigh Meritt was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week when the league released its weekly volleyball awards Monday afternoon.
This is the junior's second time receiving the recognition this season. Meritt led Samford to a 3-2 win over UNCG Friday night, with 20 kills and 18 digs. She also had 15 kills and eight digs in the Bulldogs previous match against Furman. For the two matches last week, Meritt had 35 kills and 26 digs.
She recently eclipsed 1,000 career kills as a Bulldog in the previous weeks match against Mercer. Meritt is second in the conference in kills with 311.
Next up, Samford will play at ETSU on Friday, Oct. 31. The match is set for a 5 p.m. start from Johnson City, Tenn.
