SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford freshman Kaylee Yarbrough was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's basketball awards Tuesday afternoon.
In Samford's lone game last week, Yarbrough scored a career-high 29 points in leading the Bulldogs to a 74-67 win at USC Upstate. She made 10-of-18 shots from the floor, including 5-of-9 from three-point range. She also had three rebounds in the win.
For the season, Yarbrough is averaging a team-high 12.5 points per game. She has made 40.9 percent of her shots from the floor and 75.0 percent of her free-throw attempts.
Samford will return home to play host to Lipscomb on Thursday, Dec. 18. The game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start from the Pete Hanna Center.
