GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT WEST GEORGIA (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will travel to Carrollton, Ga., to take on the West Georgia Wolves Tuesday. The game has been moved up to 2:30 p.m. (CT) due to the threat of severe weather.
Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher
Brooks Rice in the game. He enters the game with a record of 0-1 and a 27.00 ERA. West Georgia will start right-handed pitcher Evimael Quiles in Tuesday's contest. Quiles has a record of 0-0 and an ERA of 3.00 so far this season.
Samford and West Georgia have met 17 previous times, with West Georgia holding a 14-3 series lead.
Samford enters the game with a record of 5-7. The Bulldogs played a four-game series at home last weekend against Kennesaw State. The teams split the series with KSU winning games one (11-9) and three (10-6), with Samford taking games two (7-1) and four (7-3).
Samford has been led at the plate so far this season by
Cade Carr, batting .359 (14-for-39) with two doubles, two home runs and 17 RBI.
Michael Gupton is hitting .350 (14-for-40) with three doubles, a triple, a home run and three RBI.
Jackson Harris has a .333 (11-for-33) batting average with a double and eight RBI.
Parker McDonald is hitting .313 (10-for-32) with a double, a triple, a home run and six RBI. Freshman
Gus Gandy is second on the team with nine RBI.
West Georgia has a record of 7-3 entering the game. The Wolves swept a three-game series against Eastern Kentucky last weekend.
