MARTIN, Tenn. – The Samford University baseball team earned an 11-1 win at UT Martin Saturday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.
 
With the win, which gives the Bulldogs the series win, Samford improved its record to 8-7. UT Martin fell to 5-8 with the loss.
 
For Samford in the win, Jackson Harris went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Cade Carr went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Jake Souders went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Jeffrey Ince went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Gus Gandy also went 2-for-4 for the Bulldogs.
 
Cameron Keshock (2-0) pitched 5.0 innings, allowing just one unearned run on two hits and striking out nine batters to earn the win on the mound for Samford. Brooks Rice, Noah Berry and Cullen Horowicz combined to throw the final 3.0 innings without allowing a run.
 
"Keshock was electric for us today on the mound with five pretty dominant innings," Samford head coach Tony David said. "Berry came in with the bases loaded and got out of it. The top of the lineup carried us a little today, but we swung it really well again as a group and put up two big innings in the middle of the game. I thought we really defended it well again, particularly in critical spots."
 
UT Martin was led by Arderrius Towsend, who went 2-for-4 at the plate. Drake Bayles (2-1) pitched 5.0 innings, giving up six runs on seven hits to take the loss on the mound for the Skyhawks.
 
Samford took the lead with a run in the top of the fourth inning when Parker McDonald singled to left field to drive in Harris for a 1-0 Samford lead.
 
The Bulldogs added five runs in the fifth inning to push their lead to 6-0. Ince and Carr had an RBI single each, Souders had a two-run double and later scored on an error as Samford built a six-run lead.
 
After UT Martin plated a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, Samford came back with four runs in the top of the sixth inning to push its lead to 10-1. Carr had a two-run double and Ince and Harris drove in a run each to give Samford a nine-run lead.
 
In the top of the eighth inning, Carr hit a sacrifice fly to center field to drive in Ince for an 11-1 Samford lead. Samford held UT Martin scoreless in the bottom of the eighth, ending the game on the run rule.
 
Samford and UT Martin will conclude their series with a game on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
